Design
Our talented and personable design team is brimming with creative ideas, but holds only one philosophy: that the home become an expression of the people who live in it. We start by being good listeners, getting to know your tastes and desires. We look for the things in your home that have a sense of history or meaning to you. We specialize in combining those significant existing pieces with complementary new furnishings, fabrics, colors and styles. We blend these elements seamlessly into spaces that are right for you. The result is an eclectic yet complementary design that lends authenticity and depth to your home, rather than a superficial, homogenous look. We believe the highest compliment someone can pay when walking into a home is not noticing that is has been professionally designed, but simply stating, “You have a beautiful home.”
Design services are complimentary with the purchase of furniture. We offer independent design services as well, whether for an entire home, a room, or a la carte. Following are the areas in which we can help enhance your home:

Mountain Home designed and furnished the 2009 Parade of Homes Evergreen entry
Thousands of home lovers will have the opportunity to witness the creative handiwork of the Evergreen Design Center when they visit Evergreen’s entry in the 2009 Parade of Homes “Luxury Home Tour” this summer. Led by Mountain Home and Pangaea Carpets, the Design Center was asked to decorate the home by its builder, Landmark Homes, one of Colorado’s premier custom home builders. The 7,500-square-foot “Zen-inspired” dwelling is located at 650 Golden Willow Rd, in the Upper Bear Creek area.
According to Kay D’Evelyn La Montagne, owner of Mountain Home, Evergreen-area designers, merchants and craftspeople collaborated to create a contemporary mountain living environment that is both elegant and comfortable. The home uses geothermal heat, and designers sought to create natural warmth in the décor as well. Along with Mountain Home and Pangaea Carpets, Rocky Mountain Log Furniture and Mountain Kitchen & Bath gleaned from a range of styles to enhance the home’s modern lines and rustic, reclaimed materials. Stunning original art, distinctive home furnishings, hand-made carpets from the Far East, one-of-a-kind accessories, and first-rate fittings and fixtures were incorporated to accomplish their vision.
Other local businesses contributed to the home as well. Visitors will see everything from the signature, reclaimed barn wood and hand-wrought iron pieces created by Evergreen-based Cocopa, to a beautiful bed made of wood from Bromwich Castle in England. Spirits in the Pines, Wendy Lami of Material Things, Stems and Budget Blinds donated their time and creative expertise, and all bedding linens were custom made locally.
La Montagne is particularly proud that the home features more than 20 pieces of art, all original and all created by local and regional artists. Betsy Buckner, Tricia Bass, Margaretta Caesar, Victoria Thomas, “Mac” McEldowney, Tom Ware and Tom Woodward supplied oil and acrylic paintings, photographic art, sculptures of bronze and wood and mineral art. In addition, original rock and roll posters from the ‘60s dot the inviting recreation room.
The Evergreen Design Center is a cooperative association of four kindred businesses: Mountain Home, Mountain Kitchen & Bath, Pangaea Carpets and Rocky Mountain Log Furniture. The businesses serve as a one-stop shop for homeowners looking for handpicked and handcrafted fine furniture, exceptional carpets, original artwork, unique home accessories, lighting, window treatments, and kitchen and bath furnishings. The Design Center specializes in personal service, large selections and honest pricing. View the wide variety of merchandise and design services from the expansive showrooms in the old Barn and Bunkhouse of the historic Hiwan Homestead at 27965 Meadow Drive in downtown Evergreen.
